Best Practices Gone Bad

G. Wade Johnson described what is meant by best practices and some of the many ways that they can be applied badly. Mostly, he focused on anecdotes from his career to describe particular points where someone did really bad things in the name of a best practice.

The group appeared to be following the topic intently, and there were only a few questions during the talk. After the talk, the floodgates opened and we spent another 15 minutes digging into some other examples. Some of the points were clarified by further discussion.

We had decided to try again to use Google Hangouts on Air to stream the talk and record it for later. Unfortunately a combination of difficult Wifi and the drivers in Wade's laptop resulted in the talk being cut off in the middle. We were able to get a wired connection up and continnued to the end of the talk.

We had 8 people attending this month. As always, we'd like to thank cPanel, Inc. for providing the meeting space and food for the group.
